NOTICE OF FALSE ALERT AT GIDDINGS I.S.D.

Late yesterday afternoon, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department received a
message alleging that a student had been overheard making a threat to do harm at the
school. School personnel were immediately alerted, and we began a full investigation in
cooperation with law enforcement personnel. That investigation went late into the
evening yesterday, and continued through lunch time today.
At no time was there ever any credible evidence of danger to any student or staff
member, nor was there any weapon involved or threat of harm verified.
In the future, we respectfully request that any person with credible knowledge of
an incident or threat is encouraged to report it to appropriate school personnel or law
enforcement instead of posting on social media. Rest assured that we will always do
our due diligence to make sure all students and staff are safe at all times – which is our
number one priority as school administrators.
Giddings ISD whole heartedly believes in the Homeland Security slogan of: “If
you see something, say something.” However, repeating rumors and spreading false
information with no credibility only creates fear and makes it more difficult for the District
to respond in these type situations.
GISD Parents, if you have not completed your student's online enrollment through the ParentPortal for this school year, please do so.
PARENT REMINDER: GISD would like to ask that all student documents be returned soon to your students campus. .

Tomorrow night in the GHS Gymnasium we will celebrate the Class of 2024 at the baccalaureate ceremony starting at 7pm.
Next week is a busy week as we prepare for the Graduation of the Class of 2024. Weekly events include:
Monday 6pm - Kindergarten Graduation in the GHS Gym
Wednesday 6pm - Senior Photo in the Gym in Cap and Gowns
Wednesday 7pm - Baccalaureate Ceremony
Thursday - Last Day of School with Early Release at 1:35pm
Friday - Graduation Ceremony, Gates Open at 6:30pm Ceremony starts at 8pm

Also announced at the academic banquet last night were the Class of 2024 Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Yasmin Flores (right) was named Valedictorian and Baylie Becker (left) was named Salutatorian, congratulations ladies on your giant accomplishment.
Last Night we honored the top 10 students in each grade for their academic achievements this past school year. Along with honoring these students, department awards, one act play, and UIL academics were also honored and recognized.
GISD Elementary Registration 2024-2025 School Year ~New Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grade~
• NEW Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third MUST register at Giddings Elementary School
• DO NOT register NEW Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grade Online
• New Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third registration packets must be picked at Giddings Elementary .
• Beginning May 13th through May 22nd registration packets can be picked up and dropped off from 9:00am to 2:00pm
• Beginning May 28th through June 19th registration packets can be picked up and dropped off from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
