Giddings High School

Just a reminder, gates open tonight at Buffalo Stadium at 6:30pm. Both the visitor and home sides will be open, there will be water for purchase also. Can't wait to see everyone there to celebrate the Class of 2026.

During the spring semester the Giddings High School Beta Club earned 373 community service hours. Community Service hours were earned through various activities such as coaching little league, helping with Lee County Law Enforcement Support Organization Gala, the Giddings Volunteer Fire Department Gala, Lee County Veterans Association, and visiting with residents of local nursing homes.

In addition to the community service hours, Beta Club’s spring service project was “Pennies for Pets” benefitting the Giddings Animal Shelter. Beta members raised over $485 in donations from Giddings High School students and collected food, treats, toys, collars, blankets, and towels for the animals at the shelter.

On April 30, the GHS Interact Club hosted their first annual stuffed baked potato fundraiser. Over 500 tickets were sold, generating over $7,500 that will go back to our graduating seniors. We would like to thank the Rotary Club of Giddings, all of our donors, and the community for helping us make this event a success.

The GHS Athletic department will have an opportunity to get your school and sports physical next Thursday May 14th from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. For more information please email jaime.perez@giddings.txed.net.

Parents and Students, please return all library books no later than May 7th. Students have been given reminder slips at school and notices have been mailed home if books are still checked out. Any books returned after May 7th will have a fine attached to the student’s library account.

Seniors, there are 13 school days left of your senior year! There is a lot that has to happen before now and graduation. This is a list of important events between now and graduation.

Parents, make sure your child has filled out their FAFSA or their Opt-Out Form. Make sure your student is making good choice between now and graduation so they can participate in all the final events.

GHS would like to thank all of the school bus driver's at the high school and at GISD for all you do for our students. Keeping them safe in all conditions and making sure they cared for day after day! Thank you from GHS!!

This past weekend GHS BBQ was well represented at the THSBBQ state competition in Granite Shoals. One team, the Junior Ranch Hands consisting of Hagen Boullion, Kayden Kasper, Emma Meachen, and Chase Ramirez, earned reserve champions which consisted of 19th place for beans, 3rd place for chicken, and 2nd place for brisket. The other team, the Grill Billies, consisting of Hunter Eyler, Skyler Johnson, Rebekkah Richardson, Kaleb Sherrod, and Nathan Snyder, earned 20th overall receiving 5th place for chicken. Congratulations to these two teams on representing GHS well! Go Buffs!

The UIL Academics team competed at the Region 3 UIL Academic meet at SFA University this past weekend. The UIL team is the overall Region 3 Runner-up.
The Accounting and Spelling team are the region 3 champions and will compete at the UIL state meet along with individuals Brandon Burgdorf for Computer Science and Dylan deShetler for Literary Criticism. Congratulations to these students!!

Last section of EOC testing this week with Algebra 1. Prom will also be this Saturday at the Silos, it's another great week at Buffalo Nation!
