Fifty-seven members of the Giddings High School Buffalo Band traveled to Smithville High School on Saturday, February 18th to compete in the UIL Region 18/26 Solo and Ensemble Contest. The musicians brought home 60 medals for their performances. Ten of those students advance to the Texas State UIL Contest. Three Ensembles and One Soloist qualified for the Texas State Solo Ensemble Contest to be held on May 30.
Earning Gold Medals for their Division 1 performance on Class I (Advanced) Solos:
Flute: Cassidy Lucas and Katie Salazar
Clarinet: Marlene Moreno and Logan Young
Saxophone: Rafael Salazar
Trumpet: Alonzo Tello
Cassidy Lucas has qualified for the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest by
performing a solo from a Class 1 plus list that waives the memory requirement to advance
due to difficulty.
Earning Silver Medals for their Division 1 performance on Class II (intermediate) Solos:
