STAAR Testing at GMS

After completing the science and social studies portions of the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) Assessments last week,  our 8th grade students will be assessed on the math and reading portion of the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) Assessment this week. These assessments will take place on Tuesday, May 11 (math) and Wednesday, May 12, 2021 (reading).

When students arrive at school, they may go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast and then report to their testing rooms.  Testing will begin promptly at 8:15 and students will have 4 hours to complete these assessments.  Students will be provided with snacks and water during testing.

Following Texas Education Agency mandate, testing rooms are a secure setting.  Therefore, students are encouraged to leave their cell phones, smart watches, or any other device capable of sending or receiving messages at home that day.  If they choose to bring their devices to school, those devices will be collected prior to the beginning of the testing period and will be returned once testing is completed for the day.  Refusal to comply with this mandate may result in the invalidation of the student’s test and possibly the tests of the other students in the testing setting.  Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Once individual student reports are ready, parents and guardians will be sent information on how to access those individual reports.  If you have any questions, please contact me at 979-542-2057.  Thank you for your continued support of Giddings Middle School.
